Andrew James Waller is an independent journalist and photographer covering politics and foreign policy in western Asia.
Andrew has reported from Lebanon, Palestine, and Turkey for Al Jazeera, Inkstick Media and The New Arab. He is interested in the material consequences of foreign policy decisions and the daily reality of local communities caught in the dragnet of global politics.
Prior to journalism, Andrew was a British diplomat for ten years (2012-2022), specialising in conflict resolution, stabilisation and humanitarian delivery. He was posted to Afghanistan, Jordan, Mali and Libya, worked extensively on Syria, and was part of the UK delegation to the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016.
